Yarn’n’Grow is a culturally grounded employment readiness program designed to strengthen self-belief, capability and long-term job retention for Indigenous jobseekers.

Delivered over one or two days (with an optional employer connection day), the program builds the practical life and workplace skills participants need to transition successfully into employment — and stay there.

YARN & GROW

The Yarn & Grow program will help participants learn the strategies they need to be confident in applying for a job, and develop the resilience they need to stay in work.

Format:

  • 12-hour program including live workshops, movement and classroom learning.

  • Program can be delivered over 2-5 days if shorter deliveries are preferable.

  • Can add on Employer Connect as a third day to support job placement

YARN & GROW (1-day)

A compressed, one-day Yarn & Grow program that highlights the most critical mental health training topics, to begin your participants’ employment journey.

Format:

  • Perfect for the hard-to-engage participants to get them back on track with their employment goals.

  • Ideally, these participants will undertake the full Yarn & Grow program down the track.

CUSTOM WORKSHOPS

We can curate a course that address the specific concerns of your community, ensuring we’re offering the highest impact possible. In-person and digital deliveries are available.

Format:

  • From 30-minute engaging Q&As through to long-form training workshops

  • Staff training to assist in engaging and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers

Example format for a two-day program (day one)

Introduction

9:30-10:30am – Ice breaker, Jersey design competition to speak to participants’ culture through this design, and develop a mindset shift on mental health towards being proactive and deliberate to improve your mood.

Break: morning tea (provided)

10:45-12pm – A deep dive into a practical view of mental health to normalise the conversation and encourage help-seeking behaviours.  

12-12:30pm – Lunch (provided, typically Subway platters or pizza)

12:30-1:15pm – Positive psychology tools: connection to country/culture, gratitude, mindfulness, fun / joy / laughter, personal character strengths, reducing complaints and launch the ‘24 hour challenge’.

Break: afternoon tea (provided)

1.30-2pm – Reducing the stress response, establishing ‘avoidance’ as an unhelpful strategy, moving well / eating well /sleeping well. Goals setting for the remainder of the day (to be completed before returning on Day 2)

End of day & take home exercise.
